Blackboard Courses

PORTFOLIO

Overview

All of the in-person classes I teach at JHU are run through Blackboard. This allows me to  distribute assignments and other course content to all of my students in a timely and highly organized manner – opening up more classroom time for in-class activities. I'm very experienced using folders and tool links to keep my materials organized. Beyond basic tools, I use a wide range of plug-ins to assist with my courses. I manage a large portion of course content through Google Docs, which I sync with Blackboard's internal module pages. I manage all written assignments with the feedback tools in Turnitin, which helps me check for plagiarism.  I post video links via the Youtube mash-up plug-in. In classes where students give presentations, I record the presentations with Panopto and post the video footage to Blackboard so that students can review it and self-assess. Lastly, I've recently begun integrating Adobe Captivate content into several of my courses. These modules and mini-courses are compliant with SCORM standards, and, accordingly, they are fully integrated into the grade book and other areas of the courses.
